America’s love affair with sports at every level just keeps growing. In one year alone, more than seven and a half million high school students played on some kind of prep sports team, according to a national survey, and many millions more have competed in Little Leagues and Pee Wee Leagues from the time they were just entering elementary school. Many of them dream of taking their passion for sports into the professional ranks as adults, but of course, only the tiniest fraction of them ever realize that ultimate dream.
Participation in youth sports cuts across all social classes. But it’s only been since World War II that middle and upper class kids began to participate in organized youth sports in any great numbers. Sports have always been seen as a means of instilling in young people the classic values of cooperation, teamwork, and respect for authority.
Cameron Chung is a 2014 graduate of Florida State University, where he triple majored in Finance, Marketing and Professional Sales. “I am extremely interested in sports,” he says. “I used to play competitive junior golf from the age of 11 all the way through high school.” But his interest doesn’t stop on the field of play. “I have a major interest in the business side of sports,” he says. “I have worked remotely for a boutique sports agency, and also as a Finance intern for the American Junior Golf Association.” He is also a contributing writer to SportsAgentBlog.com – “The #1 resource for sports agency-related content.”
He currently works as an account executive at a tech startup in New York. But his goal is to become an entrepreneur and own his own sports startup company.
